Baseline Certification Training: Personnel performing IA functions may choose any of 8570 baseline certifications to meet certification requirements. New Horizons courses for certification training are listed in bold in the Directive 8570 Baseline Certifications grid.
Continuous Education/Sustainment Training: Directive 8570 requires sustainment training/continuing education to maintain certification status. For planning purposes the standard is normally a minimum of 20 to 40 hours annually, or 120 hours over 3 years. Operating Systems Certification Training: In addition to baseline certification training, Directive 8570 calls for DoD components to have additional personnel certified to implement IA requirements for their specific operating system environment.
Directive 8570.1-M Baseline Certifications: New hire qualification periods to meet Directive 8570 certification requirements begin the date they start in their duty position – so they must obtain the appropriate baseline certification within six months of being assigned to IA functions).
